Fishing – Bluewater Lake is known for its excellent fishing opportunities, particularly for tiger muskie, catfish, and rainbow trout. Ensure to follow the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish regulations regarding fishing licenses and catch limits. We took a designated campsite overlooking the lake and added this park to the list of places to return to. There aren’t many electric sites if that’s important to you and some say they’re no level. Please bring proof of your reservation with you to your campsite.
Bar S RV Park
Older couple asked us what they should do because they actually reserved and paid for the spot that the unruly people took over. Ranger was called over and did nothing. We assume older couple was told to camp at another spot because the large family didn’t move. They then proceeded to play extremely loud music well past midnight. No camp fires were to be had but those were going every night. Customer reviews highlight the beauty of the canyon trail, the cleanliness of the facilities, and the friendly rangers.
Couldn’t take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Horseback Riding – Equestrian trails are available for those who wish to explore the park on horseback. Wild horses roaming around the lake were also pretty cool. Beautiful lake, wonderful views, great staff, and spacious sites.

- We had a lovely stay and I will bring my grandkids there someday soon.
- I only saw one water pump in the park.
The rates are dirt cheap, but the park is worth many times more. I came in without a reservation and found a huge pull-through campsite on the hill, with a clear view of the lake (it is indeed blue). There was a deep and broad terrace for picnic table and tent, and some pines for shade. It was a little windy when I visited, but not uncomfortably so. It was dark and quiet at night, and I slept well. Bluewater Lake is located within Bluewater Lake State Park in the Zuni Mountains of New Mexico, approximately 30 miles west of Grants.
Great campground in January!
First come, first served and we arrived before noon, but no electric sites were available. Views of lake and surrounding juniper covered mesas was good. Early in morning horses grazed right through our campsite. Welcome to Bluewater Campground, a hidden gem in the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, located in Prewitt, New Mexico. This campground offers a unique blend of natural beauty, clean facilities, and affordable camping options, making it a favorite among those who discover it. Nice host greeted us and explained where the best sites were for our very large 5th Wheel.
Pawtuckaway State Park
The lake and the area is enchanting!! It was my first visit to New Mexico and for sure I will be back! The lake is large and has fishing. Various campsite types at this lakeside park. Most are non electric but I got an electric site as it was hot.
$10 for non reserved, or $8 for on the shore. Large sites, some reserved sites have electricity. Banning State Park Campground has 34 single-family campsites and is located in a forested area near the Kettle River with plenty to discover.
Great park Limited level sites
So strong they collapsed my what is the offset journal entry for accrued payroll tent on top of me. It might have been where I was (pad 44), They were still strong in the morning, but I noticed they were less/non existant at the campsites near the main entrance. People next to us did not but set up camp anyways.
Most have a level, gravel tent pad, table and fire ring. One bathroom with sinks and flush toilets. Separate shower house was closed when we were here.
Most sites have at least a glimpse of the lake. There were horses roaming through the campground. Mostly empty this April midweek. I only saw one water pump in the park. There is an EV charging station. Bluewater Lake State Park was established in 1955.

Beverly Beach State Park is in forest-sheltered area right on the Oregon coast and is a very popular campground featuring a beautiful trail to and along miles of sandy beach.
